Most adapters out there are passive adapters and can only achieve maximum 1080p FHD resolution, non of them support 1440p or higher. I have a legacy NEC 1440p monitor that only has DVI-D ports that I want to connect my Lenovo laptops at full native resolution. Can't vouch for longevity as have only been using it for 10 days, but it has a long guarantee and so far is working perfectly. There is no software to install or settings to change, it just works. Turn on the monitor, turn on the PC and Hey Presto we have the full native resolution of 2560x1600 on the monitor again. I am very happy to report that it does just that, and that it is only necessary to plug the adapter into the display port on the GPU, attach the old DVI Dual Link cable to the adapter, and connect the USB power plug to a vacant socket. It also indicated that using the " DisplayPort to DVI Adapter – Dual-Link – Active DVI-D Adapter" was the only was to achieve the full native resolution. The internet suggested that the monitor would only give the full 2560x1600 resolution using a DVI Dual Link cable, and that all DVI to HMDI adapters would only provide a single link connection.
Using an HDMI to DVI adaptor only gave a resolution of 1600x1080, and although I could force a resolution of 2560x1600 the clarity and actual resolution was terrible!
The GPU has display port and HDMI output sockets and the monitor only has DVI inputs. Couldn't get my old NEC MultiSynch LCD3090WQXi monitor to work at its full native resolution of 2560x1600, after building a new fast photo processing PC with an Nvidia 2060 GPU.
